Okay, so I've changed the name of my blog (if you hadn't noticed) to "The Glass Half-Full". I was explaining to Jon what a "blog" was (yes, he lives in the dark ages!) and told him I wanted a catchier title. I am sometimes so boring, and it is hard for me to come up with good stuff...he has good ideas. I told him my direction, and he (knowing me so well), suggested this title. I must admit I am a "glass half-full" kind of person.

I try not to see only negative in any situation (some it is near impossible NOT to), but I do hate negativity. Don't enjoy being around it, and don't want any part of it! I love to be happy, I love to smile at others and see them happy! I try to show the love of Christ through my "happiness". So, do you all like the new name? The other just seemed so "lack-luster" (I'm pulling out a Cheech word now...woo hoo!) :)

I have many things on my heart and many thoughts and Scriptures that the Lord gives to me throughout any given day. I think today I will use the verse "Set your affections on things above, not on things on the earth." It is way too easy to get caught up in having the latest and greatest, and the name brands, and all the other things that just try to pull us away from "looking up". None of this "stuff" matters in the scope of eternity, yet we place such high importance on it that it oftentimes takes the place of God in our lives (until there's a crisis that only He can fix). I am guilty of this as well, but trying to change my way of thinking. Maybe old age does that to ya..I am going to be 37 (wow!) next month!

So, see if you can think of that verse this week when you find yourself pining after that "thing" you think you need (or want)...Not saying there's anything wrong with having, just putting it all in perspective!

"Rejoice in the Lord always; and again I say, rejoice."

Oftentimes that verse comes to mind when I (or someone I live with) is dissatisfied with where we are in life. God has a purpose for us and it is our responsibility to live it happily! Is this always an easy feat? Absolutely not! We are pulled by the world in so many different directions. We are not perfect enough outwardly; if only we had this or that, we would be happier; life is a never-ending circle of discontent which easily discourages the Christian. Why is it that we make life so difficult?

I have glimpses of how life could be much simpler and much happier, then I so easily fall back into my old ways and viewpoints and forget to grab those glimpses and move full-steam ahead! Try losing weight: I can see progress, then one mess-up leads to complete failure! Or keeping a clean home: I get to a good spot, then have to go back to regular pick-up and don't get the deep stuff done... Now this is just in my life...don't get me started on exercising or having a regular time with God.

Enough complaining...my point is that we have to learn to be content...Happy where God has placed us. And this goes for me and for anyone else who struggles with complete happiness. Let God take you where you are (and me) and lead us into the happy, contented life He intends for us to live!
